HVLP Paint Gun
Welcome to HVLP Paint Gun! We provide all the information needed to buy and use an HVLP Paint Gun.
Conventional VS HVLP Paint Sprayers
Conventional paint guns (also called spray guns or sprayers) have been around a lot longer
than the HVLP paint gun. Conventional paint guns are ran at a very high pressure level, they connect directly to an
air compressor and force the finish on to your project. These guns have the ability to atomize the paint or
finishing materials which allow the finish to be applied level and smooth. Conventional spray guns create an
excellent finished result however, most of the finishing material ends up in the air instead of on the finish. This
makes the gun very inefficient, wasting money and even harmful to our environment.
HVLP guns are designed to increase transfer efficiency, which is how much of the finishing
material is transferred to the wood compared to how much of it ends up in the air. Many of the solvents used today
in fine finishing products unfortunately contributes to poor air quality. The HVLP systems are a much cleaner
alternative and are being quickly adopted by the industry. The HVLP system the air is delivered at a much higher
volume but using a very low-pressure. This prevents the finishing material from being blasted off the work project
and into the air. It is so much better for the environment that some states have mandated it's
use.
High Volume, Low Pressure (HVLP) Paint Gun may be preferred over conventional because you lose
less paint and create a smaller cloud using the former.
Professional HVLP spray guns are used in industry, professional woodworking production and
quality body shops.
Safety Considerations
There are important safety
precautions you should take regardless of the type of project you are completing. You should always ensure that you
spraying in a well ventilated environment. You need to wear paint coveralls, protective eye gear and the proper
respiratory equipment. HVLP paint guns are a good choice for achieving
a professional finish but they also get paint everywhere. They spray out a mist of paint in the air which you would
breathe in if you didn’t have on a respirator mask.
